    6V on a 5V camera ???

    Hi

    Great Article ... !!! I just see that you use 4 AA batteries (6V) on a 5V camera ... (the specifications of the cameras says:

    PowerExternal 5V DC 2.4A

    )

    is this correct ? can we use 6V on a 5V camera ?

    Thanks for advance :D

    Bye from Spain

    Yes, the camera is looking for a 5V DC source, however as I alluded to in the article, getting a clean 5V out of standard batteries without building a step-up or regulator of some kind isn't easy.  To keep the article simple and on-topic, I decided to risk it by slightly over-volting the camera.

    I've run the cam at 6V for many hours without any ill effects, but perhaps I've just gotten lucky.  If you're concerned about the voltage, you could build or buy something like this from SparkFun:

    I received the following from someone via my "Contact" page...

    Here's a quick reply to your RC controlled car:

    This is a 5 Volt voltage controller, LM7805:

    Input voltage could be up to about 30V, and LM7805 will automatically regulate the output voltage to 5 V :)

    It have just three pins: Input (5-30V), Output (5V) and ground

    The price isn't so bad either ;)
