Computer-Controlled R/C Car with Camera

My latest article has been posted on Coding4Fun.  This time around, learn how to control a remote controlled car via an Xbox 360 controller, and add an IP camera to the car for remote operation, all using the newly-released Microsoft Robotics Studio.  As with the others, I have created a forum for discussion and to answer any questions or comments you may have after reading.  Enjoy!

I plan on building your tutorial, do you have any video of the car in action?

Gee, Thanks Brian?
This was a great article and choice of examples. I’m mostly a self-taught programmer. I started in high school with Fortran on an IBM360 with no monitor at all. Only one complaint! I’ve barley slept since reading your article trying to learn more about MS Robotics Library and suite. I was happily living in denial blissfully coding anything anyone needed using Visual Studios 6, Brew, Java, ASP, ASM, or whatever. With my library .NET didn’t temp me. Well, not that much. Then a follow programmer called and asked where you intended him to place “FrameHandler(Frame frame”) and the code below it in this project.  I got hooked. Now look what you did! Making us trash our concurrency and decentralization functions, classes, and god knows what else. But I really hate not knowing the Library (or anything) other than stepping through a few examples, videos etc. I actually just hate not knowing.
Could you recommend a “quick guide” source or reference book to learn what the Library has to offer.
Really, thanks so much from all of the programming community. This is waaaaaay better than “Hello World”.

Hi,

Interesting project! Im new to programming and I was wondering if it's possible to use a remote-controlled helicopter instead, using the same materials and procedure?

Best Regards,

Anders

Anders,

I see no reason why a helicopter couldn't be used.  Just be sure that the remote control unit is digital and not analog as mentioned in the article, otherwise the procedure won't work.
